Golf Training Tips
By Jim McGill
Golf is a fun activity; however, it is also very intimidating, especially for first time individuals. One of the biggest most common mistakes that first time golfers make is rushing out and buying an expensive brand new full set of clubs. Any experienced golfer will tell you that this is a big no no. First of all, you are not accustomed to them. Secondly, you do not even know how you will adjust to the game. The biggest tip any golfer will give is to just start out with one or two second hand clubs.
Tip Number 1: Practiceness is next to godliness. Have you ever heard practice makes perfect? Well, the same rules apply to the game of golf. Go check out a local driving range. No one will care if your shots are perfectly straight or how far they go except you. And you can buy a bucket of balls at a decent price; this will help you get the hang of the gist of the game. Next take a turn at the putting green. At most courses, there is a practice green where beginners can learn to chip and putt.
Tip Number 2: Its important thing to remember is to wear comfortable golf shoes. As a beginner, there is no need to go out and buy the most expensive pair of golf cleats. Just a pair of comfortable basic cleats will do. Cleats make a huge difference because they keep you planted when you wind up to take a swing. You should notice immediate change in your performance if you don't already own a pair of cleats. However, as a beginner there is no need to go spending exorbitant amounts of money on them.
Tip number 3: Always find out the rules of the course you are playing. Most pro shops have the rules posted somewhere. Or you can ask one of your local pros. If you are really serious about taking up the game of golf, you can also get lessons. They are usually not very expensive and the knowledge about the game is well worth it. Play on a course that you know, and that has few sand traps. This way it will be easier to learn the basics.
Like I said, golf is very intimidating; however, once you know the game, it is like riding a bike, you never forget it. It can be just for pleasure or it can be a addicting or a lifetime career.
Do you find that no matter what you do, your swing still does not improve? Why don't you try something completely new? Does your swing suffer from unpredictability and poor range?
